CIA Leadership Analyst

Work Schedule: Full Time
Salary: $44,465 – $86,801*
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area

The CIA's Directorate of Intelligence (DI) seeks leadership analysts to produce assessments of foreign leaders and other key decision-makers in the political, economic, science and technology, social and cultural fields. These assessments are prepared at the request of senior US policymakers in the executive and legislative branches to help them understand and deal with their foreign counterparts. Agency analysts are encouraged to maintain and broaden professional ties through academic study, contacts and attendance at professional meetings. They may also choose to pursue additional studies in fields relevant to their areas of responsibility. Opportunities exist for foreign travel, language training, analytic and management training, and assignments in other offices in the Agency and throughout the US Government.

Minimum requirements include a master's degree in international relations, political science, foreign area studies (especially Europe, the Middle East, and Asia), history or similar areas. Candidates with graduate degrees that include leadership studies or a closely related field (psychology, political psychology, sociology or anthropology) are strongly encouraged to apply if they have coursework and research in small-group behavior and decision-making, as well as regional expertise. Competitive candidates have excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills. A GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale is required, and foreign language proficiency and foreign area knowledge gained through study, travel or work abroad is highly desirable. Undergraduate candidates with exceptional regional expertise, language skills, and an outstanding academic record may also apply.
